Glossary
EDI projects require a wide variety of specialized knowledge. In our glossary, we provide answers to most of the terms you may encounter in your EDI project.
GLN (Global Location Number) is a global location number for the unique and overlap-free identification of legal persons (companies, organisations) and physical locations (addresses, buildings, storage rooms etc.) in EDI communication. It is assigned by GS1 (Global Standards One) for a fee and has replaced the former ILN (International Location Number). Each GLN consists of 13 digits: a base number, a location reference and a check digit. The central administration via the respective national companies (GS1 Germany/Austria/Switzerland) ensures that no GLN is assigned twice.
